Opting to stay in for the evening, I found myself musing over a few different items and thought I would share...
#1) After the early week high temperatures, St. Louis had a dip into cold with a bit of snow today. Not willing to waiver my excitement for Spring, I decidedly opened a bottle of rosé with my small meal of chicken apple sausage, smoked gouda and whole wheat crackers. While you may have heard me say it many times, pink wine is not just for warm months! It's a great pairing wine and an enjoyable sipper any time of year.
#2) I spent a little time catching up on the new Daily Grape web series from Gary Vaynerchuk. For those familiar with Wine Library TV, Gary V has launched a new, daily wine tasting video blog. Daily posts of about two wines are concise, informative and fun. No one can deny his appeal and ability to talk "real" with consumers, I not only learn a lot from him in wine, but web and business as well. Smart guy, good wine... Enough said.
#3) I have countless subscriptions to food and wine magazines. On top of my local reads, I am usually a good month behind on getting through all of them. But, none the less, I love them. Of course, not all of the content is new to me but it is always fun to read a new perspective. Plus I get to drool over the many wines and recipes that grace the pages. So far this month, I can't stop thinking about the Grilled Cheese and Fried Egg Sandwiches in the April issue of Bon Appétit. Pancetta. Sourdough. Provolone. Fried Egg. Yep, I'm in.
As I resume my night of "nothingness," I encourage you to share your weekend wines, recipes and finds.
